Citywide Trash Cleanup
May 1-8

Help make Anchorage a cleaner city in 2010!

Dear Neighbors,

One of my constituents suggested notifying our neighbors about the upcoming citywide clean up.  It was a great idea, and here’s the information:

Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup Week brings together local businesses, organizations and schools to rid the city's streets and neighborhoods of trash.

  • 80 schools + More than 100 businesses + Thousands of people + 60,000 bags = Millions of pounds of trash collected.
  • Orange bags will be available at these locations and are limited to 2 per person:
    1. Red Robin Restaurants:
      • 401 E. Dimond Blvd.
      • 3401 Penland Parkway
    2. Burger King:
      • 900 W. Dimond Blvd.
      • 1405 W. Northern Lights Blvd.
      • 700 Northway Drive
    3. Anchorage Chamber:
      • 1016 W. Sixth Ave., Suite 303
  • Free dump days are May 1st, 2nd & 8th for any trash and the orange bags are free throughout the week at the following locations:
    1. Anchorage Regional Landfill: Hiland Road at the Glenn Highway
    2. Anchorage Central Transfer Station: 1111 E. 56th Avenue
    3. Girdwood Transfer Station: Ruane Road
  • For more information, contact Gail Palmer, Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup coordinator.

Be sure to join the Clean Sweep Celebration too!

  • May 6th, starting at 5pm, at the Delaney Park Strip
  • Celebrate as businesses and volunteers rally together after cleaning Anchorage's streets parks and neighborhoods, at the Clean Sweep Celebration.
  • This free community celebration sees hundreds of Anchorage residents enjoying stage entertainment, games and events.

If you have tips on ways to improve our streets and neighborhoods, please send them my way.  I’d be happy to share them with others!

I’m here for you, and look forward to seeing you around District 29!

Tuck’s Tips:

‘Tis the Season…for road construction

  • Crews are hitting the roads to fix potholes, improve traffic safety and build new roads.
  • The Municipality has a website listing road closures, which is updated weekly.
  • Check it out and drive safe!

family fun

  • Migrating birds are a sure sign of spring, and Potter Marsh is just the place to take children and grandchildren to see them!
  • Starting this Saturday, free weekly guided bird walks are available for the whole family.
