Keep an Eye Out for Suspicious Offers
Dear Neighbors,
I was recently alerted by a friend about a potential scam operation being conducted in our area and I want to get a quick warning out to everyone.
What we know is that there is a male who appears to be in his late 30s posing as a municipal employee and offering to perform work on people’s driveways at no cost. The individual is persistent, and might make multiple visits offering free services ranging from weed removal to complete driveway replacement.
After checking with the Municipal Public Works Secretary, the individual appears to be giving a false name and phone number. The municipality has NOT been conducting any of the type of work he is describing. The Anchorage Police Department has been notified about his activities.
Please keep a watchful eye for this sort of activity and warn your neighbors about it when you talk with them. If you are approached by someone making similar offers, please report the incident to the Anchorage Police Department at 786-8500 along with any identifying information you can safely obtain.
I’ll keep you posted if I get any more information. In the meantime, many thanks to our good neighbor for being vigilant about suspicious activity.
Warm regards,
