Oil Production Needed Before Reduction
Input on Your Priorities Invited at Anchorage Meetings

Dear Neighbors,

One of the most important things I’m working on this legislative session is making sure we get more oil flowing in the pipeline by encouraging new oil production and providing Alaskans a fair return from our oil wealth. To that effect, this week I co-sponsored HB 111 that will guarantee production by:

· Developing new oil fields;

· Helping to get new oil out of old oil fields; and

· Promoting the infrastructure and research needed to increase North Slope oil production.

Alaska depends on oil. To build a strong economy, we need to get more oil to market. Our current tax structure, Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share (ACES), has been recommended by experts to get companies out of harvest mode and into new production.

Rep. Chris Tuck and Sen. Johnny Ellis announce an improved tax plan based on ACES.

ACES is not broken. We have the most aggressive tax credit system in the world and it’s stimulating more competition on the North Slope. My bill further incentivizes and gives tax breaks only when industry puts new oil in the pipeline.

Companies Produce, We’ll Reduce.

Under HB 111, when new oil is produced, oil companies get a tax break. We get more oil production and protect Alaska’s savings. This is a win for everyone. Please take a look at this bill and let me know what you think.
