Begich Teacher Wins National Award
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope you are all enjoying the great weather this weekend. Apparently it is summer after all!
2012 Session Accomplishments
This year I was successful in helping pass several important pieces of legislation to create jobs for Alaskans, make sure children with autism can get the treatment they need, protect crime victims’ rights, and improve early childhood education opportunities. I have a short video that highlights what we accomplished for East Anchorage this year, and I hope you’ll take a couple of minutes to watch it.

If the link in the picture doesn’t work, click here for the video.

Begich Teacher Wins National Award
In other school related news, Begich Middle School teacher Scott McKim was recently announced as a winner of the California Casaulty Award for Teaching Excellence, one of the most prestigious national teaching awards. Congratulations to Scott and the Begich community!
As always, please call or email me with any thoughts, ideas, or concerns.
Sincerely,
![Pete [signed] Pete [signed]](http://www.akdemocrats.org/petersen/signature.jpg)
P.S. The reds are running, and I’m sure many of you are out filling your freezers, I thought I’d share some useful numbers for Alaskan fishermen and hunters.
