Anchorage Caucus Meeting Saturday; Computer Privacy, Pancreatic Cancer Bills on the Move
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope you will be able to make it to the Anchorage Caucus meeting tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 am in the Assembly Chambers at the Loussac Library. I will be chairing the meeting, and it will be a great opportunity for you to share your thoughts and concerns with all the legislators from Anchorage area districts. At the last meeting we had a lot of invited testimony, but this meeting will focus on hearing from the public. This will be a great opportunity to make your voice known on local road and school issues, as well as statewide issues like the proposed Susitna/ Watana hydroelectric project or the governor’s oil tax bill.
Computer Privacy Bill on the Move
Today the House Judiciary Committee moved House Bill 23, my bill to protect computer users’ privacy by updating our computer hacking laws to keep up with new technology. This bill closes a loophole in the current law to make it illegal to use a keystroke logger to steal information. As technology advances, it is important that the laws protecting our privacy are updated to keep pace with new developments. HB 23 got strong bipartisan support in the Judiciary Committee and now goes to the House Finance Committee for consideration.

House Passes Pancreatic Cancer Resolution
Also today, the House unanimously passed my resolution, HCR 1, to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer. I was asked to introduce this resolution by one of our neighbors in Northeast Anchorage who lost her father to pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is one of the few cancers that survival rates have not improved significantly in recent decades.
As always, please call or email me with any thoughts, ideas, or concerns.
Sincerely,
![Pete [signed] Pete [signed]](http://www.akdemocrats.org/petersen/signature.jpg)
P.S. Remember to get your PFD application in by March 31, you can apply online here.
