ACTION ALERT!

Public Testimony on HB 3001: Oil & Gas Production Tax

Dear Neighbors,

I have just been notified that public testimony on HB 3001 will be heard tomorrow morning at 9am in the House Resources Committee. While this is news to me, I wanted to be sure you have the information you need to participate in this important discussion.

Speak up in two ways:

1. Send the committee members an email:

House Resource Committee Members

House Energy Committee Members

2. Go to the Fairbanks LIO office at 1292 Sadler Way and sign up to testify via teleconference. The LIO is on the third floor of the AlaskaUSA Building behind Home Depot. The hearing will begin at 9am, so plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to get on the list.

In a Senate hearing this week, Senator Lesil McGuire called this bill “half-baked.” I couldn’t agree more. Seven days into meeting twice a day on this issue, it is clear that the administration took a bill that barely passed the House (HB 110), and a bill that never made it out of the Senate (SB 192) and crafted another plan to do the same thing: give away Alaska’s oil and Alaska’s profits with no commitments from the Big Oil Producers.

As owners, we must fight hard to responsibly develop our resources without ‘giving away the farm.’ I believe in thoughtful discussion about the fair share for Alaskans and future generations, and how to get more production in light of decline. This bill is not a solution to get more oil in the pipeline. We deserve a better option, and with your help, we can convey that message.

Working Hard for Fairbanks Families,
