The University of Alaska Fairbanks is planning improvements to the Skarland and Big Whizzy ski trails on the West Ridge of campus. UAF is seeking public input on the proposed changes.

**Fairbanks Area Constituent Meeting Thursday December 8th**

Gathering Feedback- Denali Borough
 
Over the past few days, I have been around the district gathering feedback on a multitude of projects and issues. Last weekend Senator Thomas and I visited the Denali Borough where we heard comments on local, State and Federal issues. Most of what we heard was a need for relief from rising energy costs. Communities like Healy pay some of the highest fuel costs for a community on the road system. Large projects like the Susitna Dam and GVEA Eva Creek Wind Farm are in the back yards of Denali Borough Residents and we heard many comments regarding these projects.

Education was a heavily discussed topic. The Denali Borough has a shifting school population as families come and go. For too long the school district has had to be creative in dealing with deteriorating schools. Last year Senator Thomas and I appropriated money to help the Cantwell School address numerous issues. In 2012, we will continue to address these concerns.
